If you want a perfect example of a car with ridiculous numbers, you don’t have to dig into the supercar archives as much as you think. In fact, the search for such a car would most likely stop once you came across the spec sheet for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
It weighs just shy of a football stadium - coming in at an astonishing 5,363 pounds. It has seating for 5, and it’s just as at home on a snow-covered street as it is tearing up the drag strip on Summer evenings with sub-12 second runs, provided by the massive 707-horsepower 6.2-Liter Supercharged V8 engine that lives underneath the hood. All of these are massive numbers indeed. But the only small number is the resulting 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds that all of this absurdity produces. Is it crazy? Definitely. It’s basically the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen’s Rowdy, American, Gun toting, Hell-raising cousin.
Bringing all of that rowdiness to a stop is another story - as the Trackhawk comes equipped with, what The Brake Report called in 2017, “...the biggest brake caliper in production on a North American Car…”. There’s something to be said about a car that one can put a week’s worth of groceries into, and, on the ride home, make a stop at the local drag strip for a few spirited runs. But, there’s even more to be said about the Trackhawk we had in our shop recently.
The Mission: transform the exterior of this Trackhawk by covering the gloss black finish with Avery Dennison Satin Black Vinyl.
This example of the Trackhawk was already menacing, and featured several tasteful mods, including:
The result of our crew’s hard work was an even more menacing looking muscle car than before. Now, not only does this Trackhawk look meaner, the vinyl will add protection to the painted surface underneath for the winter season ahead.

It is true: Both ceramic coatings and paint protection films that we install here at Chicago Auto Pros provide protection for your vehicle’s paint and exterior surfaces. However, the most notable difference is that our ceramic coatings are mostly designed to lower daily maintenance routines, keep stains at bay, and add gloss. Paint protection films are polyurethane vehicle wraps that prevent light surface damage and resist defects caused by unpredictable hazards.
Because ceramic coatings are not completely indestructible against swirls, scratches, paint chips, or abrasive surface damage, keeping them clean when the need arises keeps them looking high quality and staying effective. Likewise, ceramic coatings require professional detailing to maintain their lifetime warranties, as opposed to public car washes, as those drive-thru efforts can and will scratch them or cause marring.
Absolutely! Utilizing both a ceramic coating and a paint protection film to give your automobile the ultimate in value, shine, and perfection is an extremely proactive effort. Here at Chicago Auto Pros, our paint protection films keep defects from reaching your actual finish, while the ceramic coating on top of them will further enhance the quality of your vehicle's paintwork.
