Porsche 911 GT3 RS | XPEL Ultimate

Jun 20, 2017

It's not everyday you get the opportunity to work on a car like this.

The Porsche 911 GT3RS is often referred to as "Porsche’s last truly analogue driver’s cars" and is rated among the top 10 rarest Rennsport Porsche 911s ever made. The best part? Our customer brought it to us to be wrapped in XPEL Ultimate paint protection film because he had plans to do what this car was originally built for - to be driven!

It all starts with a wash and clay treatment. This is where we remove the dirt, grime and other contaminants in the paint and can see what we really have to work with underneath.

Next comes paint correction. This step removes scratches, swirls and other imperfections in the paint. Without this step you would be sealing in any paint issues beneath the protective layer. You want to perfect and then protect. Whatever protection you decide on - whether it's a paint protection film, a ceramic coating or a combination of both, paint correction is the most important step.

After paint correction XPEL Ultimate is laid down on the car and carefully adjusted to fit. Our number one goal when installing PPF is to make the film virtually invisible on the car. We aim to protect the car while not taking away from its natural beauty.

Anyone who has been to our shop probably knows we have a model of this exact car on the bookshelf in the lobby. We're all car enthusiasts and it's cars like this that remind us why. This GT3RS is stunning in every way and perfect just the way it is. When working on cars like this we don't want to change them, we want to preserve them.  We hustled and completed this entire job in a single day as the owner had plans to take it on a 1000+ mile trip in the following days, but believe us when we say we wish we could have kept it longer.
